HGTV® Dream Home 2022 Journey

Across the state of Vermont, the mountains rise and fall, rivers wind, forest trails lead to beautiful adventures, and cozy villages offer unique shops outfitted with products with the community at their core. Surrounded by natural beauty, the Mad River Valley is one of those beautiful corners of the world that provides endless opportunities to take full advantage of the outdoors while still quickly being able to immerse yourself in nearby cities like Burlington and Montpelier.

That’s why it's no wonder that the Mad River Valley was chosen as the ideal location for HGTV® Dream Home 2022! With help from Vermont Real Estate Company's Kara Koptiuch and Sugarbush Real Estate's Cindy Carr, the network was able to find the perfect spot for this epic home giveaway. 

Vermont Real Estate Company's Kara Koptiuch had previously worked with HGTV® in 2017-2018 when they were scouting for a waterfront home on Lake Champlain to create the DIY Network Ultimate Retreat 2018. After visiting several properties, Kara and the network agreed, they had found the perfect Colchester property to renovate into a gorgeous lakefront home. After purchasing the property, HGTV® and local contractors worked together for nine months through snow and mud seasons and created a one-of-a-kind home to give away to one lucky winner. After the home construction was finished and all of the production companies had captured their content, HGTV® needed someone to manage the property and keep it looking its best until the winner was announced. Since Kara knew the property so well and developed a relationship with the network and home build manager, she became the property's house manager and ultimately listed the home for sale after the winner opted to take the cash prize option. 

When the time came for the network to locate a property for its HGTV® Dream Home 2022, they wanted to find a secluded mountain home with stunning views. After exploring a few other locations, Cindy Carr was recommended to the network team and joined the search. With her added experience, skills, and close connection to the Sugarbush community, everything started falling into place for the team - the search for a home in the Sugarbush area was on! 

After eyeing some impressive properties in the Mad River Valley, there was one location with 12.7 acres that had it all. A pond, mountain views, and an idyllic location provided peace and tranquility in this natural setting, while still offering the convenience of being just minutes from the village, skiing, and golf. The network's team fell in love with the parcel, and soon after that, Kara and Cindy executed the contract to the deal in early spring. The HGTV® team then got to work finding the right builder and in no time at all, the HGTV® Dream Home 2022 became a reality.
