The smallest state capital in the country, Montpelier offers a vibrant downtown full of great restaurants, a lively art scene, and a great school system. Like most Vermont communities, Montpelier has easy access to recreation and the outdoors. The city is home to the Vermont College of Fine Arts and the New England Culinary Institute, both lending to the cities foodie and arts culture. The Capital City Farmers Market, one of the best markets in Vermont, operates year-round. Caledonia Spirits hosts the market every winter, while residents and visitors parooze the open-air market downtown on Taylor Street come summertime.
Homes styles include affordable ranch homes, mid-range victorian and colonials, as well as million-dollar custom homes. The Montpelier-Roxbury Public School District serves students from downtown Montpelier as well as neighboring Roxbury. The district consists of Union Elementary School, Roxbury Village School, Main Street Middle School, and Montpelier High School.
"This city of 8,000 exudes a feeling of small-town intimacy backed by a richness that you’d expect from a much larger place, while flaunting an irresistible smorgasbord of all things Vermont: independence, steadfastness, creativity."
