Vermont Ranks High in Well Being!
Vermont is the country’s 6th ranked state for well-being! In a new report released by Gallup-Healthways, Vermont was found to be one of the best states in 2016 for residents’ well-being.
As part of the Gallup-Healthways State of American Well-Being series, the study looked at well-being across the nation and examined how well-being differed between the states.
To determine the Well-Being Index, the study looked at five key elements:
Purpose
Being happy with what you do every day and having motivation to achieve goals
Social
Presence of supportive relationships and love
Financial
Ability to manage finances in order increase security and reduce stress
Community
Liking the community you live in and feeling safe
Physical
Being in good health and having energy
In order to evaluate these elements, Gallup conducted 177,192 telephone interviews with adults in all 50 states throughout the course of 2016. The overall Well-Being Index and each of the five elements were calculated on a 0 to 100 scale, with 100 being the highest possible score.
When the results came in, Vermont was found to be at the top! It’s Well-Being Index is 63.5. It ranked within the top 10 states for Social, Community, and Physical well-being. Here are all of the state’s results:
