Hot Cocoa for Two

One of our favorite ways to keep our VTRECO family warm and cozy throughout a Vermont winter is….hot cocoa! It’s the perfect decadent treat to come home to after a day of sledding, skiing, or rounding out a relaxing day curled up by the fire with a good book or snuggly children.

 

   
Ingredients:
½ cup of cocoa powder (either milk or dark)
2 cups of milk
¼ cup of maple syrup
½ tsp of cinnamon powder
½ tsp of vanilla extract
1-2 oz of coffee liquor
Whipped cream

 

 

Gather the ingredients, a small saucepan, and your go-to mugs. Pour your milk of choice into the saucepan and gently stir until warm on low heat. Add in your cocoa powder, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir or whisk until all ingredients are incorporated and have a smooth texture. 

Pour the hot cocoa into your mugs, top it with a generous amount of whipped cream, and garnish with dash of cinnamon! Then, if you’re looking to add a little extra oomph, pour in an ounce of coffee liquor or even peppermint schnapps.
