December 2023 Flood Resources
In times like these, it’s essential for Vermonters to come together and support one another.
The most important thing is staying safe. Do not reenter your home or business if it’s unsafe. If you need to assess your home’s safety, contact your local fire department.
If you have been impacted by the flooding, here are some resources to aid your recovery:
Open Shelters
The Cavendish Baptist Church is open as a warming center for those affected by the flooding.
The Barre Auditorium is open as an overnight shelter. Pets are allowed at this shelter, but owners should bring crates, carriers, food, medications, collars, leashes, and toys as necessary. Individuals should bring: prescription and emergency medications, foods that meet special dietary requirements, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, chargers for electronic devices, books, games, and other forms of entertainment. That said, do not go into your home to retrieve these items if it is not safe for you to do so.
You can also locate other available shelters by zip code using this resource from the American Red Cross.
