Students in grades PK-6 attend the Johnson Elementary School, which enrolls 225 students in town. Students then move onto the Lamoille Union Middle School for grades 7 and 8, and the Lamoille Valley High School until 12th grade. These schools are a part of the Lamoille North Supervisory Union, which serves students throughout the county. Many locals in Johnson work on smaller family farms or in the trades, while others choose to work for larger employers in the area. The newly founded Vermont State University will include the Northern Vermont University Johnson Campus as part of a larger merger, and will be looking to fill positions. Other employers include the Copley Hospital in Morristown, Stowe Mountain Resort, and Smugglers’ Notch.
