For outdoor enthusiasts, circling the town there is the famous Trail Around Middlebury (TAM), an 18-mile footpath, that is in use all year round. In the winter, you can find people snowshoeing and cross country skiing, and running and walking in the fall, spring, and summer. Another excellent spot in the winter is the Middlebury Snowbowl; A local mountain that is 20 minutes from town and has something for all alpine and nordic abilities.
