Check out Knight Island State Park if you're looking to spend the night at one of Vermont's most unique and remote campgrounds (boat access only). Farming and agriculture have a rich history in the area due to the fertile soil and serve as the primary industry of the Champlain Islands. This makes for one of the freshest farmer's markets in the state, bringing out the best local veggies, meats, cheeses, and handmade goodies. The Island Arts Center is an excellent place for people of all ages to enjoy creative classes, performances, and galleries throughout the year. Things quiet down during the winter, but there is still plenty of fun to be had. Ice fishing around the island is an angler's dream, and snowshoeing through various state parks and natural areas is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Looking to escape to the mountains for the weekend or even just a day trip? Well, you're in luck: Jay Peak and Smugglers Notch Resort are both just over an hour to the east in the beautiful Green Mountains. 

 

North Hero is a part of the Grand Isle Supervisory Union, which serves students PK-8 in the region. In town, 67 students aged PK-6 in North Hero attend the North Hero School. Unique to the district, students can attend the school of their choice after completing the 6th or 8th grade so they can continue to thrive. More information on school choice can be found here. Farming and agriculture make up much of the employment in the Champlain Islands, with larger employers in St. Albans and Burlington. Companies such as Seventh Generation, Beta Technologies, and the UVM Medical Center are all within a 45-minute drive.
