Northfield is home to Norwich University and Cabot Hosiery Mills, makers of world-famous Darn Tough socks. Nestled in the Green Mountains of Washington County, the town of Northfield and the village within offer a lower cost of living compared to the rest of Vermont. People interested in moving to Northfield have their choice between a downtown suburban feel or more rural settings just outside of the village. Homes consist of a mix of newly built farmsteads, land, and affordable ranches sitting on multiple acres.
Students K-12 are served by Northfield Elementary School and Northfield Middle & High School. Located only 10 miles from Montpelier and 50 miles from Burlington, Northfield offers a balance of country living with easy access to urban centers.
Northfield also is home to six covered bridges, four of which are located in Northfield Falls in the northern part of town.
